Meet the Staff

Aldo Morales, MD - Dr. Morales graduated from Rutgers College in 1979 and completed post-graduate studies at Ross University in 1983. He has Board Certification in both Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry and has worked extensively with clients with dual diagnoses. Dr. Morales has been an active voice in educating the medical community to regard addiction as a brain disorder and not as a moral failing.  He is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been a member of numerous professional societies, including the APA, AMA, and ASAM.

Maureen Knapik-Esposito, PhD, CAP has a Doctorate in Family Therapy, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a certified Addictions Professional (CAP). Dr. Esposito has been in private practice focusing on addictions, marriage/family counseling, and young adult issues, as well as having done extensive work in the field of eating disorders. At Alternatives, in a Multi-Disciplinary approach, Dr. Esposito supervises a team of Master's level and/or CAP certified therapists, who confer daily, designing individual treatment plans to meet the needs of each patient.

Paul Adams, MS, CAC, CMHP is originally from Pittsburgh, Pa. He received his BA degree in Psychology from California State College in California, Pa. His addiction training was with Addictions Training Institute, Miami, FL., and he is certified by the Certification Board of Addiction Professionals of FL. He received his Masters in Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Paul's clinical experience has been in both dual diagnosis and addiction with focus on the disease of addiction, relapse prevention, addiction and the family, and after-care planning. He has worked in a variety of treatment settings.

rehabilitation Carlos M. Cano, BS was born in Havana, Cuba and moved to America when he was five years old. He received a B.S. degree from University of Maryland, a medical technician degree from University of Tennessee, and his clinical addictions studies were completed at the University of Arkansas. Carlos brings a wealth of life experience, cultural diversity, and formal education to the therapeutic environment. He is also able to offer individual sessions in Spanish for bilingual clients.

dual-diagnoses treatment Nancy Ewing, MSEd, MAC, CAP is originally from upstate New York. She is certified as an addictions counselor by both Florida and New York and has national and international certification. She has worked in both the psychiatric and substance abuse fields for 20 years as a clinician and an administrator. Nancy specializes in working with families, sexual abuse trauma, eating disorders, and other addictions. She has presented workshops and seminars in the U.S. and Great Britain. Nancy has lived in Florida since 1996, working for treatment centers and operating her own DCF-licensed private practice.

drug and alcohol treatment Marina Oksengorn, MS, CMHP is originally from Belarus, a former Soviet Republic. She is a registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. Marina received her Bachelors in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Augusta State University in Augusta, GA. She has worked in both the psychiatric and substance abuse fields for five years. Marina specializes in working with anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorders, domestic violence, as well as mood disorders and major mental illnesses. She is also able to offer individual sessions in Russian for bilingual clients.

addiction recovery Robyn Colon, BS, CAP, CMHP is originally from New York City where she attended college at SUNY Brockport and received her Bachelors in Science with a major in Psychology and Alcohol and Substance Abuse. She is a certified alcohol and substance abuse counselor and has been working in various treatment milieus for over a decade. She has worked with adult populations as well as children, the mentally ill and the elderly. Her interest lies in exploring the disease concept of addiction.

substance abuse David Levin, MSW, CMHP is originally from Pittsburgh, PA but has been in Florida since 1976. He has a Masters Degree from Barry University's School of Social Work. The majority of his research is in the field of drug addiction and major mental illness. He completed his undergraduate internship working with dual-diagnosed patients. In addition, he is trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction as a therapeutic intervention for PTSD patients who are victims of traumatic crimes.
